I finally Understand...
Publishing a book is a much bigger milestone than writing. Anyone can say "I'm writing a book." Publishing a book is a journey, a long journey. Well, my first one was. More on that later. But I finally understand...what I have been teaching for the past 20+ years in elementary writing classes. The writing process. And the publishing process.
"International Teaching: The Best-kept Secret in Education" by Gregory Lemoine M.Ed.The idea came to me the week before. The challenge was to write a book "zero to hero", from idea to publish, in just 3 DAYS. The final product, on Amazon for sale, was 36 hours if you include the time I slept during those three days.
Yes, it was an exercise in Artificial Intelligence and Prompt Engineering. Cover and all. It cost me a total of $20. That's what I paid for one month of using ChatGPT-4 and DallE. |
"Finding the Right Fit" by Gregory LemoineI started "writing" my first book back in 2000. That was when I signed up for my first job fair, while I was still in college.
2020, during, covidcation my buddy Joe said "Greg, if you can't finish your book during covid, you'll never finish. Either publish or quit." And so I self-published with BookBaby for about $4,000. Sure, it is on Amazon all over the world. It's in B&N too. But I have to pay MORE for any edits. something like $0.50 per word. |
